Happy Moments Prize Giving Ceremony - Part # 2

After viewing the first set of video entries, the winners for the third place were announced. Then some light games that consisted of TV series trivia questions and some sort of a dancing game were played. Those who raised their hand up and answered correctly got to pick a slip out of a Happy bag before receiving some goodies. Here are some pictures from that fun night:

Happy Moments Prize Giving Ceremony - Part # 1

About 2 months ago, I decided to join the Happy Moments contest by doing a video post and submitting it just about a month before the deadline. I have heard about it earlier from David and decided to do a video since I have some experience in making short films and the like. It took me 2 days to produce it (one day for the shoot, another for editing and recording the narration) and it was indeed a good experience for me as I gave myself only 2 days over the weekend to complete it. I learned that it is always good to give yourself a deadline and work hard to meet it.

Soon enough, I uploaded it and shared it among my friends for them to view and vote. To my surprise, my entry entered the Top 10 and remained at the highest position for a long time. Thank you to all who have voted for me! =)

Then just a few days ago, I was invited to the prize giving ceremony at Isthmus and I won first place. :D Friends and familiar faces came and it was good to see all of you again. Here are some pictures for Part 1:

001
Colourful.

002
Smiling faces everywhere. =)

003
Dinner was served.

004
Jen, Rames & Nadia came in shades of blue.

005
David eager to kick start the event.

006
I told Thomas his video was going to be featured.

007
CK, the Man from Happy came up and gave an introduction to the entire thing.

008
True enough, his video was one of the first to be played to the crowd. Nice collection there!

009
It generated laughters and happy feelings all around.

010
Next up - some games were played and freebies given out.

Part 2 coming up next! Stay tuned!

Capo 5

Marie Digby recently came to town to promote her album at 1 Utama and some of us decided to catch her there after seeing her on Youtube many months ago. Some had special passes to meet her while most of us were caught in the crowd as her voice echoed the mall that night. Her showcase was rather normal with some prizes thrown in for those who joined the singing contest. Let's just hope she's not another one hit wonder, yea? Picture time:

001
Many came early to see the X-Wing & Tie Fighter go about it.

002
Met Walter & YingYing there.

003
Opening act done by winners of a singing contest.

004
While waiting for Marie, I secretly snapped this. Guess who's pocket and what's inside?

009
With HweiMing and first time meeting Joshua.

006
Digby soon appeared on stage and all hands were raised.

005
Performing songs for the crowd on Capo 5.

008
Setting the right mode to shoot.

007
Astroboys Rames and Jason at the scene.

011
Action speaks louder than words, or lyrics in this case.

010
With Cheryl & HsuJen.

After the showcase, there was an autograph session that got Pam Song so excited and eager, she quickly rushed to the store as soon as Marie left the stage. Then she saw this:

012
Angkat, tolak, masuk, picit.

Naturally, she roared:

013
Do I see a lioness in the making for Nuffnang's upcoming Wild 'Live' Blogging Party? =P

And devised a plan so evil that her cackle filled in the entire old wing. I swear I had cold shivers running down my spine that very moment. *sweat*

014
Or was someone tickling her?

God knows what she did to get that scribble of a marker. Just look at the expression of Aaron and Thomas. Did she kicked butt?

015
Did you, Pam? LOL. (Steamboat and BBQ on me, Pam, ok?)

Soon enough, everyone gathered for a group picture before heading off to McD's to makan.

016
Mari Digme.

*lookout for some gif-action on some of the other blogs soon.

Dasar Pandang Timur

If you're wondering where I've been for the past few days, you'd probably already knew about my whereabouts either through Twitter or through a friend or through some email thread. Well, I'm in Kota Kinabalu at the moment, not for a holiday but to work. Yes, to work throughout the weekend while others get to wake up late and laze around the house before doing something exciting for the day. But work for me does not necessarily mean boring. In fact, to be able to sweat the whole day and to see the final results at the end of the day is somewhat satisfying. Here are some random pictures that I've taken :

001
Will be back here next year hopefully for a tougher physical challenge.

002
Yes, One Borneo is the up and coming shopping mall for Sabahans.

003
One can find tons of Filipinos here. The wonders of a sampan.

004
That's the number of hours I work for now.

005
Bila larut malam...

006
Soft launch's on the 7 June. Dropby the store if you're in KK. There's some opening promo.

007
View from my condo. Bed's music super loud.

Be back soon! Happy-nya. =P

After the event, David invited a bunch of us to makan munchies, mingle, minum, bermacam-macam and to enjoy some masak-masak by the resident spinner. Here's 5 pictures to close. Many thanks to all of you who took pictures (you know who you are) and to those who were in position to further make the evening enjoyable. =)

Nokia IAC Live@Zouk KL - Part 02

Gone are the days where bands / acts had to play underground and gig extensively before being picked up by some label. Think early Butterfingers or OAG for example. Everything was hard work and opportunities were very little at that time. Small gigs like the Acoustic Jam Series were unknown while bigger scaled events like Rock The World managed to introduce a whole new experience to music lovers. Exit that.

Enter this : Nokia's Independent Artists Club. With Nokia's IAC, acts can be discovered by an audience of millions while being voted from time to time on the exclusive IAC Chart. That means uploading one's music to the comfort of listeners at home. And according to Nokia, a sample CD will be sent out to key music industry contacts in each market giving you a chance to go on tour or even score a recording contract. Sweet huh?

But with so many online music services out there like Amp or even MySpace or YouTube (think Marie Digby), where one can upload music, get voted, top the charts, have one's music video played on TV and connect with fans (think FlyFM's Campur Chart @ Laundry), where does Nokia IAC make a difference in terms of this? I do wonder.

As for the event itself - it was something new to be featuring three different genres of music and some clinics thrown in for a good measure being showcased at the same time. At least, it catered to the diverse crowd of music lovers while providing a platform to promote the discovery of home-grown music and of course, new acts. Too bad majority of the Velvet Room loving crowd was being busy down south on the same day. :P

Well, it's pictures time!

Divided across Zouk's three main venues, Main Room hosted independent rock bands, Velvet Underground resounded to the DJs and hip-hop acts while the Terrace Bar played home to laid back sounds of singer-songwriters. Merdeka In May

A few days ago, I received a message from Mich saying how happy she was that it was her last day for exams and that she wanted to celebrate 'merdeka' that very same day. Do you remember how it felt to be sitting for the final exams of your final semester in your final year and knowing that it will all be over like, finally? I guess she must have felt like jumping so high after completing her exam paper. Anyway, we went up to Lookout Point for a mini get-together-makan-borak-gelak-tangkap. Here are some pictures from the rendezvous:

lo001
Cheese baked seafood rice. Yummy.

lo002
Met Gideon there. He was threshing wheat in a wine press.

lo003
Met Mikel, Mich's bf Ken & Benghan as well. Dillon, Sandra & Aaron looks on.

lo004
The night was clear and windy. Used a tripod to take this one though.

Mich, here's welcoming you to the working world! =)

Engage Your Lunch Break

Remember this Atari game from the 80s?

More versions followed as the years went by.

Some of you may have not seen or played it before but gone are those days of addiction to this raster display game. Wonder where my Micro Genius and my 34529809-in-1 went. Hmmm....

Fast forward to today and this is what we get:

No, its not Street Brawl 2.

Nokia came up with an interesting stop-motion viral and a game to boot. There goes my lunch break. Now, get out and play.

Malaysia's first online reality program has finally come to an end and thanks to Michael for the passes, I managed to meet up Sheryl and Joshua as we made our way for the finale that happened 2 days ago. As we have all come to know the results, the disappointments and the joy within, let's hope Season 2 (if there's any) will be filled with more drama and perhaps a new judgment system, eh?
